New cycle tourism route: ‘The Battle at the Heart of the Ardennes’

Stretching 135.5 km, this cycle route passes through the towns of Erezée, Houffalize, La Roche-en-Ardenne, Manhay and Rendeux. The route runs almost entirely on tarmac roads and invites you to retrace the dramatic events of the winter of 1944–45, when the Ardennes became the scene of Hitler’s last major offensive in Western Europe. The route combines picturesque landscapes with poignant reminders of the Battle of the Ardennes. This route is also a sporting challenge, taking in winding roads linking villages, memorials and battle sites.

Over 30 memorial sites are accompanied by historical content on the Liberation Route Europe mobile app and website. QR codes installed on site will soon redirect users to this information, which is already available here.
