Hunting dates
ChasseOnWeb is a cartographic app that catalogues the hunting areas and dates in Wallonia. It aims to allow all forest users to live together more harmoniously. Thanks to this app, you can locate the hunting areas which have been authorised to close public thoroughfares (roads, paths, trails) that cross the woods and forests and note the days when hunts are organised (shaded in red on the map).
It can also be used to locate the areas in which the holders of hunting rights have announced hunts without having applied for authorisation to close public highways (shaded in yellow on the map).
The information provided on this website is intended to improve transparency about hunting activities and is for information purposes only.
The posters banning access displayed at the entrances to woods alone have legal value.
The main role of hunting
When managed well, hunting serves to maintain game populations at numbers that allow the forest to grow properly and other living species (plants, flowers, amphibians, birds) to thrive there as well.
In fact, too many red deer, fallow deer and wild boars can cause serious damage to the ecological diversity of the forest and its economic profitability or to farming areas. So when done properly, hunting plays an important ecological role.
Hunting also plays an essential economic role in the Ardennes owing to the rental income it generates for various land owners.
Red posters
These can give notification of the organisation of a beat during which hunters posted along a firebreak, a trail or even a road wait for game driven by stalkers and dogs to pass by.
You are not allowed to enter this part of the forest on the day of the beat.
They can also warn you of stalk hunting and hide hunting periods.

Yellow posters
These posters allow you to plan your future autumn walks avoiding the hunting areas. You can also find out about hunting dates from the district offices of the Department of Nature and Forests and from the Tourist Boards.
