US Sherman Tank dedicated to Task Force Hogan

Beffe

This American tank is an M4A3 Sherman and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. It belonged to the 771st Tank Battalion and is believed to have slid off the carriageway while travelling on the icy roads in January 1945. The tank was lifted up but fell off the transport platform and remained in the ditch for several years.

In 1985, it was completely renovated and placed in the centre of the village of Beffe. It stands there today in honour of the 3rd US Armoured Division ‘Spearhead’, and in particular to the men of Task Force Hogan who bravely and courageously defended the surrounding villages.
