La Roche-en-Ardenne is the most popular holiday resort in the Ourthe valley. Only 70 km from Liège and 20 km from Marche-en-Famenne, it lies in a meander of the river dominated by the ruins of a medieval castle. It has many waymarked footpaths for hikers and exciting mountain-bike trails around the gorges of the Ourthe valley. In 1944-45, the town found itself on the front line in the Battle of the Bulge and was almost completely destroyed.Guided tours are available in English on request.
